Overview

IGF-1 LR3 is a modified analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1 with an arginine substitution and a 13-amino-acid extension. These changes sharply reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins, so far more of it stays free to act on cells, which makes it considerably more potent than native IGF-1 in cell-culture and animal models. It is widely used as a cell-culture supplement.
